Just like the story of "King Midas Touch" in ancient Greece, the in vivo reprogramming approach has an elegant power to turn “stone” (“bad” proliferative glial cells) into “gold” (“good” GABAergic induced neurons). By forced expression of Ascl1 and Dlx2, reactive glia proliferating in the epileptic hippocampus can be successfully reprogrammed and converted into GABAergic iNs and exhibit anti-seizure effects in chronic epilepsy
